Kaolin (China Clay)

Kaolin also known as China Clay is a clay mineral and is part of industrial dusts group of minerals.

It is soft white clay and is composed of layered silicate mineral. Kaolin is the main ingredient of china and porcelain manufacturing and it also has wide applications within the paper, rubber, paint and cosmetics industries. Kaolin is a soft powder, white in colour predominately of mineral kaolinite and contains varying amounts of minerals such quartz, feldspar and anatase. Often crude kaolin is stained yellow by iron hydroxide pigments, which makes it necessary to undergo industrial bleaching operation to chemically remove the iron pigs and remove other minerals in order to make it usable for other commercial and industrial applications.

40 percent of kaolin produced globally are used within the paper industry and also the product has extensive use in tile and ceramic industry, where it is used as one of the key ingredients to manufacture white china products, porcelain and refractories. The formulation consists of equal levels of silica, feldspar and also ball clay.

Kallier Mining owns and operates on several kaolin mine sites which are predominately located across the north western region of Iran.
